The Hellblade 2 release date is finally upon us, and we've got a bona fide Xbox console exclusive to play through once again!

Fans of the original Hellblade, Senua's Sacrifice, will know what's waiting for them: a combination of combat, puzzle solving and an original hero with a mind we rarely see in gaming, it blew us away back in 2017.

It also won Melina Juergens a BAFTA for playing Senua.

The Xbox exclusive line-up has been thin on the ground, and now the long wait for Hellblade 2 is over at last.

Read on to find out everything there is to know about the Hellblade 2 release date, what its launch time in the UK is, where to pre-order and more (including gameplay and story details, of course!).

When is the Hellblade 2 release date?

The Hellblade 2 release date is 21st May 2024, the developers have confirmed through official channels.

Players will be able to jump into Senua’s Saga while the springtime sun is shining, so you might want to close those curtains to improve the atmosphere!

The Hellblade 2 UK launch time is scheduled for 9am BST on 21st May 2024, it has been confirmed by Xbox and Ninja Theory.

For those of you living in the USA, meanwhile, the Hellblade 2 launch time is 1am PDT/4am EDT on 21st May.

Fingers crossed you took advantage of that pre-install time before the game's launch!

What platforms and consoles will Hellblade 2 be on?

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was one of the first titles confirmed for the Xbox Series X. It will also launch on Xbox Series S and PC (both Steam and the Xbox PC launcher).

It is unknown if the game will ever come to the PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or any other platforms.

However, with previous exclusives like Hi-Fi Rush making a move to PlayStation, you never know! We'll be sure to let you know if any port surfaces.

Can I pre-order Hellblade 2?

Yes, you can pre-order Hellblade 2 (if you're immensely quick!) ahead of its 21st May release date.

You can pre-order Hellblade 2 from GAME for £49.99 as a digital download. It's available as a download, too, from Amazon. It's also available as of writing for £29.99 on CDKeys.

Sadly, there is no physical release for Hellblade 2. Xbox is on its way to delivering a digital-only future, whether we like it or not.

Oh well.

What is Hellblade 2 about?

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel to Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (we're unsure why they've swapped Hellblade's side of the colon), which followed the titular Celtic warrior as she battled her way into Viking Hell to rescue her dead lover's soul.

Not much is known about this follow-up, but it is expected to continue the well-received portrayal of Senua's psychosis, as well as more exploration into Norse and Celtic culture.

We do have this synopsis: "The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland.

"Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without."

Is there a new trailer for Hellblade 2?

The game was also built using next-generation hardware so, as the trailer depicts, the game will likely be technically impressive and graphically stunning.
